Entry of the Day - Smart bottom
1. Smart bottom
A less coarse version of the term smart arse, used to refer to a person whose forthright cleverness is irritating. Majida described talkative dungeoneer Barry Thorne (Episode 12/Team 7 of Series 7) as a smart bottom, and although she's sometimes known as "Majida Daughter-of-the-setting-moon", we must trust that she wasn't being literal. It is unknown whether smart bottom was ad-libbed, planned by Jackie Sawiris or suggested to her by someone else.

Barry later revealed in a letter published in The Quest fanzine (Volume 3, Number 2) that Majida's use of the term had repercussions beyond Knightmare. '[Majida's] view that I was a bit of a 'smart bottom' went down very well with friends and family. Henceforth that is what I am known as to everyone who is in the know. The cast of a play [sic]. I even considered putting 'smart bottom' in the programme where my name should be. Thanks, Majida.'
